Hey everyone, Pedma here!
97%+ of traders lose money.
I was in that camp for nearly 2 years.
Despite my best efforts, clocking in 8h-12h every day, studying every inch of the game, I was still losing money.
I nearly quit, more times than I can remember.
The chart above shows my performance, from late 2017, to the summer of 2019, when I turned things around.
2 years of consistently losing money, every month. You know what’s it like to go to a job you hate, wasting a lot of money and time on a “career” with extremely low odds of success, and everyone around you, telling you that you’re dreaming?
I was a young guy, stuck in my room, looking at screens every day, no breaks, no summer trips, not even weekends.
Just work…
And what I had to show for it, almost 2 years later?
A lower net worth.
This time was devastating to me. I still get the feelings as I am writing this.
There was only one thing that kept me in the game, despite overwhelming evidence against me.
A delusional belief that I’d eventually make it.
Here’s a true story of a soccer match I played last week, that when I was in it, I knew I had to write about it.
It perfectly sums up what’s required when the odds are stacked against you.
It is summer time, nights are warm and nice, playing a soccer game is the perfect way to take my mind away from trading.
We usually pick teams when we arrive at the field.
3 captains to choose 6 players to each team.
This time, for whatever reason, the teams were decided on Whatsapp.
Bad idea!
The result?
The teams were very uneven. And naturally I got stuck in the worst team.
I am there for the fun, I don’t care, but still I like to win a game or two right?
We were losing every single game.
It is a rotating game.
We either play 5 minutes and rotate the team, or a team scores 2 goals and the losing team is replaced.
We probably lost 10 games, which were all of them.
We only had 30 minutes left to play.
I am very competitive. I wanted to win at least 1 of the games before I left.
I knew we had very low odds of doing it.
But I was going to be methodical about it.
So I told my team that I wasn’t leaving the field until we won. We had the capacity to win, we just had to find it. Corny I know, but I did it in a playful manner, they laughed and went along with it.
I started by creating a system, to increase our chances of winning.
I knew that the key was not in our technical ability, which was obviously inferior.
It was in taking risky chances, by trying to score goals from larger distances.
Our only wild card was that our forward player was quite good with his accuracy.
(Compete where you can ey?)
I told him to kick from the outside, even if it was far, their goalkeeper would eventually make a mistake.
Told the slower guys to stay close to the goal area to defend.
And told the medium skilled guys, to stay in middle of the field, assisting the forward player.
And most importantly, I told them that we would win.
Now we had a system.
You could see their faces suddenly filled with confidence.
We were playing against the best team.
That team hadn’t left the field many times that night.
They kept winning game after game.
As the game began, everyone was following the instructions I gave them.
My forward player was taking a lot more shots, probably at 10x the frequency he was before.
He missed a lot.
But with every shot, he gained confidence, and they were becoming dangerous.
My defense players, were defending like I never seen them do before that night.
Focused, no one was passing through their wall.
The opposing team began to show some frustration, as they were winning all the other games with much less effort.
Suddenly my friend gets through their defenses, kicks the ball out of nowhere, it lands in the right angle, and scores the first goal.
Everyone was surprised.
Even myself, if you ask me ahah.
Mind you, we didn’t win a single game all night, up until that point.
We all celebrated with him, and finally won the game.
The other team had to leave the field.
After that victory, we didn’t lose a single game until the end of the night.
That is what a strategic plan and some encouragement can do to people.
This is a true story that happened just last week.
Most people just don’t see a path forward, and that gets in their subconscious.
They no longer believe that they can win.
And maybe they really can’t.
But just a little delusional belief, about a small possibility of winning, can change their entire trajectory.
I’ve been trading profitably for quite a while now.
Most of the people that come to me, ask me if it’s really possible to get there.
I tell them what I told my friends at the soccer match.
It will be hard, but I ain’t leaving until we win.
To help you really speed up your learning curve, I’ve decided to open a few spots to one-on-one coaching, to share my knowledge and passion for trading, with you. I’ll show you exactly how you can go from unprofitable, to profitable trading, as I did.
